Pertemps have renewed their association with the Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster on Saturday January 29th, it was announced today.
The company sponsored the race as recently as 1998 but it was run as the Stakis Westgate Casino Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase when won by Major Bell last year.
The three-mile contest now has #40,000 in added prize money, an increase of #10,000 on last year, and with Pertemps now backing the #15,000 Mansion House Handicap Chase, prize money for the day breaks through the #100,000 barrier for the first time.
Doncaster's chief executive John Sanderson said: "The generous support of Pertemps has enabled us to provide a significant increase in prize money for the meeting.
"The Pertemps Great Yorkshire Chase is sure to attract a quality field with plenty of runners, helping to raise the profile of jumping at Doncaster."
There were no surprise withdrawals at the latest forfeit stage for the race, with 58 horses standing their ground.
The most significant defection was that of the Paul Nicholls-trained Earthmover, third to Edmond in the Coral Welsh National at Chepstow last month.
The weights are headed on 12st by the Nicky Richards-trained Unguided Missile and Random Harvest from Mary Reveley's yard.
