Trainer Peter Beaumont today reflected on an accomplished display of jumping at Aintree by Young Kenny and declared it was all systems go for the Martell Grand National.
Young Kenny had clearly learned from his first acquaintance with the renowned fences.
He fell at the 10th fence in the National last April but had no trouble with the demanding course on this occasion in the Tote Becher Chase.
Footsure throughout, Young Kenny showed plenty of determination to defy top-weight and land the spoils by half a length.
'I couldn`t be more pleased with him - he jumped brilliantly yesterday and the idea now will be to prepare him for the National again,' said Beaumont.
Exactly which route Young Kenny will take back to Aintree is still uncertain.
A possible next target is the Coral Welsh National at Chepstow at the end of next month.
Beaumont said: 'That race would fit in but we`ve no specific plans yet. I need to speak to the owner Trevor Hemmings. There are plenty of races for Young Kenny and it will really depend on the weather.'
The trainer will be unrepresented in the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Newbury on Saturday.
'Niki Dee won`t be running,' he said. 'I meant to take him out of the race before now - he wants better ground.'
