Review GOWRAN PARK 25TH JUN

Trainer Joanna is creating personal firsts to beat the band at present, sending out an across the card double to register her fourth consecutive winner, while also training her first and second ever blinkered winners today.

Both today's winners, Bahhare Desert at Down Royal and Dbest in the Bulmers Jack Duggan Memorial Handicap Hurdle at Gowran Park were Morgan's first blinkered winners.

Morgan later reported 'I was nearly afraid to try the blinkers today because I've had no luck with them!'

Regarding Dbest's win at Gowran, under Joe Elliott, she added 'he doesn't like going right handed and doesn't take well to too much racing. He'll probably run in a hurdle on the Monday of the Galway Festival.'

Six rivals were afraid of Virginia Woolf in the feature event, the Bulmers Handicap, with John Oxx's filly of that name proving the game winner under Mick Kinane.

Virginia Woolf attempted to make all but appeared in trouble two furlong out, when headed by eventual runner-up Le Leopard.

However, Oxx's filly responded gamely to pressure and bravely got her head in front again a furlong out, staying on for a length and a half win.

Oxx later stated 'Virginia Woolf has been placed twice at Stakes level and has won three times so it is a possibility that she may be retired now.'

He added 'she is at a cross-roads now because there aren't many handicap races for her at this trip (two miles) and she would find it hard to win a Listed race.'

David Wachman's Arosa defied a massive walk in the market (11/10 - 11/4) to score an impressive win in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.

Ridden by Wayne Lordan, the daughter of Sadler's Wells chased the leaders before moving through to lead over one furlong out, staying on strongly for a five length win.

Afterwards an impressed Wachman explained 'this filly is very well bred but had done little work because she had been sick, like most of my three year olds.'

He also revealed 'she's well entered up and we may throw her in at the deep end on her next run, so expect to see her in some funny races next!'

The opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden went to Aidan O'Brien's impressive six length winner Admiralofthefleet, under Seamus Heffernan.

The son of Danehill made most of the running, and although joined entering the straight, went clear under two furlongs out, before stretching clear in impressive style, winning eased down from Trachonitis.

Ger Keane's Keen Look landed the Gowran Park Golf & Leisure Handicap, under Fran Berry while Bisley, under on fire Denis O'Regan, landed the Autoplatz.ie Maiden Hurdle for trainer Michael O'Brien.

Willie Mullins' 16yo son Patrick partnered his third career winner, remarkably each in succession, surely a record, when Hollywood Law landed division 1 of the Thomastown Pro/Am Bumper.
