GIANT ON COURSE FOR CHAMPION

Aidan O`Brien remains keen to send 'iron horse' Giant`s Causeway in search of a sixth Group One win of the season in the Dubai Champion Stakes next Saturday as preparation for the Breeders` Cup Classic.

He has ruled out an early trip to the USA for the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont, telling the Blood-Horse: 'The Classic is what we`ve been working toward.

'We decided the best way to get there is either run in the Champion Stakes or go to the Classic off works.

Henry Cecil is set to run both Vodafone Oaks winner Love Divine and Shiva in the Champion Stakes.

He will saddle the high-class female pair in the Group One contest provided there is sufficient give in the ground at Newmarket.

But riding plans have yet to be determined for the mile-and-a-quarter contest, which Cecil won previously with the fillies Indian Skimmer and Bosra Sham.

'At the moment they are both in and provided the ground is all right they will both run,' the trainer said today.

'We will sort out jockey plans later.'

Shiva, second in the Champion Stakes last year, has not raced since a heavy defeat in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot in July.

Love Divine, runner-up in the Yorkshire Oaks in August, finished fourth in the Prix Vermeille at Longchamp last time out.

'But the horse is doing so well, and he looks like he wants another race. He tries all the time and loves racing so much we have to run him to keep him competitive.'
