The opinion was pretty unanimous that the result would be changed and so it turned out as Shesafoxylady was promoted at the expense of Elsie in the Thoroughbred County Mares INH Flat Race at Punchestown.
In an exciting all Mullins conclusion David's mount Elsie held off first-cousin Patrick's ride Shesafoxylady by a nose but she'd brought the 'runner-up' significantly to her left at the business end.
Tom Mullins, trainer of Elsie, said prior to the disqualification in the steward's room: "It's great that she's come back to form as she was off for a year and a bit.
"Win lose or draw she'll go for the Listed Mares Bumper at Navan and then go hurdling."
Tom's brother Willie of course has care of Shesafoxylady for the Supreme Horse Racing Club and they have plenty to look forward to with the Trans Island mare.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Elsie, ridden by Mr D.J. Mullins, placed first and Shesafoxylady, ridden by Mr P.W. Mullins, placed second. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the winner Elsie had improved her placing by causing interference to Shesafoxylady, placed second and consequently reversed the placings with the result now to read Shesafoxylady, placed first and Elsie, placed second and took no further action.
