Foxrock got off the mark over hurdles on the four time of asking as he took the Sunday Market at Naas Racecourse Maiden Hurdle under Danny Mullins for Ted Walsh.
Stepped up in trip to three miles, the Loughrea point-to-point winner, had a great battle with Wedding Present and just got the better of him on the run-in as he went on to score by three parts of a length.
The Barry Connell owned winner was returned the 5/4 favourite with the Sean O’Brien trained, Shay Barry ridden runner-up returned at 11/2. Perfect Gentleman for Willie and Patrick Mullins finished a further three lengths back in third at 9/2.
Ted Walsh said afterwards: "He'll make a grand old three mile chaser. I wouldn’t imagine he will run again as he wants slow ground and a slow track.
"He stays and he jumps and he gallops away. The tight track at Punchestown didn’t suit him but in saying that the horse who beat him there (Kashline) ran a cracker in the handicap earlier (finished fourth behind Dressedtothenines ."
