Fiver admission for Cork's charity day

Admission to Cork racecourse tomorrow (Tuesday) will be just E5 and those gate receipts will be divided equally between two charities, Mallow Hospital and the Injured Jockeys Fund. The seven race card, off at 5.25, features two Stakes races, the Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Give Thanks Stakes and the Listed Platinum Stakes. Mark Kelly, Racecourse Sales and Marketing Manager, stated “the idea of the promotion is to attract people away from the bookie shops and hopefully with the day being in aid of two good causes, it will prove a success. “The board recognise how important the local hospital is to the area and it is also great to support the injured jockeys' fund. We're aiming to build it up over the next three or four years and being an ordinary Tuesday, we're hoping it will become a busy meeting in time.”
