The ground conditions ahead of this evening's flat fixture at Fairyhouse have eased slightly from declaration time when the going was described as Good to Firm.

Following 10mm of rain plus some artificial watering of the course the going is now Good (Good to Firm in places).

A damp morning at the County Meath venue is expected to clear into a dry afternoon with the first of seven races set to go to post at 4.50pm.

Following the cancelation of Tramore yesterday shortly before the first race IHRB Clerk of the Course Paddy Graffin issued the following statement:

"We were yielding to soft just after 3pm following 12mm of rain since 4am this morning.

"The rain was persistent without being very heavy, but it was due to have passed by 4pm on all forecasts. However, the rain just continued steadily which led to a pool of water forming in an area three furlongs from home.

Despite our best efforts to try and remove this surface water, the continuing rain meant we couldn't keep it safe and although the remainder of the track is perfectly fine, there is one area which is unfit for racing and therefore we have unfortunately been left with no option but to cancel the fixture in the interests of the safety of all particiapnts - horse and rider."
