A recent switch to the Pat Fahy yard certainly worked the oracle on Head Turner as she left some previously modest form well behind with a facile victory in the Kilmolash (QR) Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel.
The former Martin Cullinane-trained mare, as big as 14/1 earlier in the day and backed on track from 8/1 into 13/2, completed a double on the day for Fahy also on the mark with Mount Gunnery in the beginners chase.
Katie Walsh sent the daughter of High Chaparral to the front at the penultimate flight, and she shot clear in a matter of strides.
Head Turner was one of the few all day to cross the line full of running on the very testing going as she recorded a 16 lengths verdict over Orah Hall with Fort Carson in third.
Fahy said, "Her owner Liam Hurley rang me looking for a horse as I was with Martin (Cullinane) a month ago and I bought her off him. I had seen how fine a filly she was previously and the more Martin liked her, the more I wanted to buy her.
"In fairness to Katie she was on the outside and was in no hurry. At home she had been doing everything well and had muscled up so much. She is kind and easy to deal with and I imagine she can step up now.
"She is well bred and is proper stuff. That wasn't her ground but I wanted to find out a few things today."
