Sagamix, one of only three horses who have won the Prix de l`Arc de Triomphe while still unbeaten, is to retire to stud at Haras du Logis, the stud said on Friday.
The grey, who also won the group two Prix Niel, began his career in the colours of his breeder Jean-Luc Lagardere before his sale to the Godolphin operation.
Trained by both Andre Fabre and Saeed bin Suroor, Sagamix will not be remembered as one of the great Arc winners and he was not the same horse after his hard-fought win over Leggera in 1998.
In the frame in four post-Arc group one events, Sagamix is unraced since his Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud third to Montjeu this summer.
The only other horses to have won the Arc while still unbeaten are Ribot and Lammtarra.
Sagamix`s 2001 covering fee has been set at 25,000 francs ($3,192) and he will stand alongside Zieten, Medaaly and Lord Of Men.
