FORESTAL SET TO SIGN OFF AT GALWAY

Forestal is set to have what could be his last race on this side of the Atlantic in the IR#61,250 Compaq Galway Plate tomorrow.

The eight-year-old, fourth in the John Hughes Memorial Trophy at Aintree in April and runner-up to Earthmover at Chepstow in May on his latest run, has joined trainer Paul Webber from Howard Johnson`s stable.

Webber explained: 'It`s his first run for us. I bought him at the May Sales at Doncaster to go steeplechasing in America for his owner, to run in Tennessee and places like that.

'But he seems as though he is the right type of horse for this race - I`ve spoken to jockeys who`ve ridden him and to Howard Johnson and they said we should certainly give it a go.

'He seems awfully well and they say he`s best fresh.

'He ran very well in the John Hughes and he ran well behind Earthmover at Chepstow.

The gelding will travel to his new home following his Galway run.

'He`s doing this on his way to the States,' Webber added.

'This will probably be his last run over here unless if he runs exceptionally well, then he might come back for the National next year, who knows?'

Last year`s winner Moscow Express heads the 22 declarations for the Grade Two contest which includes three other British-trained runners, The Gopher (David Wintle), Wisley Wonder (Nigel Twiston-Davies) and Governor Daniel (Ian Williams).

Williams also runs The Prince in the Compaq Alpha Systems Hurdle which opens the third day of the Festival.

The only other raider on the card is Silvertown who runs for trainer Barney Curley in the Compaq Software Installation Services Handicap.
