FOREIGNERS DOMINATE FRENCH GUINEAS

Foreign-trained runners dominate the entry for the Dubai Poule d'Essai des Poulains, the French 2000 Guineas, at Longchamp on Sunday, after 14 stood their ground at today's forfeit stage.

The card also features the fillies' equivalent, the Dubai Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, and an important French Derby trial, the Prix Lupin.

Aidan O'Brien, accounts for five of the 14, Monashee Mountain, Giant's Causeway, Bashkir, Royal Kingdom and Manhattan.

The Dubai Poule d'Essai des Poulains option is also open to Adilabad (Michael Stoute), Fanaar (Jeremy Noseda), Ekraar (Marcus Tregoning), Valentino (John Gosden) and Cape Town (Richard Hannon).

Overeseas interest also hinges around Godolphin pair, Bachir and Glad Master, Jammaal (Dermot Weld) and Italy's Blu Air Force.

A total of 22 acceptors stood their ground for the race, including the first three home in the Prix de Fontainebleau, Berine's Son, Premier Pas and Slipstream King.

The French 1,000 Guineas, the Dubai Poule d'Essai des Pouliches run at Longchamp on Sunday, has also attracted a sizeable foreign contingent.

These include two previous group winners this term from British stables, namely the Fred Darling and German 1,000 Guineas winners, Iftiraas and Crimplene.

Both hail from the respective stables of John Dunlop and Clive Brittain.

The Ascot Fillies' Mile winner Teggiano, a recruit from the Clive Brittain yard, is one of two Godolphin acceptors for the Dubai Poule d'Essai des Pouliches along with Dignify.

The mile feature is also an option for Out Of Reach (Barry Hills), Alhufoof (Marcus Tregoning), Premier Prize (David Elsworth), Kalypso Kate (Jeremy Noseda) and Blusienka (Gerard Butler).

The other foreign acceptors are the Irish pair, Alluring and Warrior Queen, and the Italian 1,000 Guineas winner Xua.

Lady of Chad, the unbeaten Prix Marcel Boussac winner, spearheads the home defence.

The six foreign acceptors in the Group One Prix Lupin on the same card include the O'Brien quartet, Ciro, Royal Kingdom, Bashkir and Bach.

The Godolphin pair, Dubai Two Thousand and River's Curtain, have also been left in.

Freddie Head's Kutub, an impressive winner of the Prix Noailles in April, promises to be a tough nut to crack for all and sundry.

Especially, as the second Lord Flasheart has franked the form by taking the Prix Hocquart on Monday.
