FLYNN TO APPEAL

Last season`s champion amateur rider Paul Flynn is to appeal against a seven-day ban he collected at Cheltenham on Wednesday.

Flynn was found guilty of 'riding an ill-judged race' aboard Coxwell Cossack who was a fast-finishing fourth behind Common Man in the Jewson Summer National Hunt Handicap Hurdle Final.

Steve Gollings` top-weight had only daylight behind at the top of the hill before making up plenty of ground under pressure to be beaten only 13 lengths by the winner and Flynn was handed a seven-day suspension (November 3-10) by the stewards.

The jockey said today: 'I have spoken to Michael Caulfield (the executive manager of the Jockeys` Association) and he has advised me to appeal.'
