Just five runners will go to post for tomorrow's £145,000 JWE Telecom Dante Stakes at York.
The small but select field includes the John Dunlop-trained Sakhee, winner of the Thresher Classic Trial at Sandown last month.
Dunlop's two Derby winners Shirley Heights and Erhaab have both used this race as a stepping stone to success at Epsom.
Sakhee will again clash with Pawn Broker, a length second at the Esher track, who had earlier won the John Mowlem Feilden Stakes at Newmarket for trainer David Elsworth.
Aidan O'Brien's five acceptors at the five-day stage have been whittled down to one runner, Royal Kingdom, winner of the Royal Lodge Stakes at Ascot last year but only fifth in the Prix de Fontainebleau on his reappearance.
Best Of The Bests, who finished a half-length second to Royal Kingdom at Ascot for Clive Brittain, represents Godolphin.
The field is made up by the Paul Howling-trained Shamrock City, who disappointed connections when finishing 23rd in the Sagitta 2000 Guineas last time.
This Group Two prize is regarded as one of the leading trials for the Vodafone Derby and has been won by Epsom heroes Shahrastani (1986), Reference Point (1987), Erhaab (1994) and Benny The Dip (1997) in recent years.
