Today's British meeting at Fakenham finally fell victim to frost after a third inspection at 11.00am.
Temperatures went down to -4C overnight at the Norfolk track but officials were determined to allow the fixture every chance of taking place and deferred a final decision on prospects after checks at 7.00am and 10.00am.
But it was called off when a third inspection found conditions had not thawed enough for racing to take place.
"It has just not improved as we had hoped," said clerk of the course David Hunter.
"The temperature has not gone up anything like it was forecast. It was due to be 6C or 7C but it has been hovering around 1C and now the wind has got up."
Today's fixture is the 12th jumps meeting to be lost during the current season.
