Pineapple Express burst through in the final furlong to run out a cosy winner of the concluding race at Gowran this evening.
The Ruler Of The World filly was held up in rear in the extended nine furlong handicap and still had plenty to do turning for home.
She responded well for Andrew Slattery, riding for his father and namesake, down the straight and stayed on well to lead between horses just inside the final furlong.
The 4/1 favourite soon had matters in hand as she went on to record a two-and-a-quarter length success over Matilda With Me
Slattery senior said “She was unlucky a few times in Dundalk and got it right today.
“She never travelled early on and seems to like to be ridden that way. It worked out well in the finish.
“She’s a winner now and her owner, Dr Ronan Tynan the tenor, is happy. He also bred her and lost the dam only last week so it’s grand that she has won now for him.”
