The IHRB has announced the end of the overnight 'check-in' procedure for industry workers attending race meetings, replaced by same-day applications, starting on Thursday.

Since the return of racing in June 2020, industry workers had to log-in overnight to gain admission to race meetings the following day, but from Thursday that overnight facility is closed.

The new same-day procedure means an industry worker can, if necessary, merely 'log-in' at the gates of a racecourse, wait 15 minutes for approval, and gain entry. An update to the current IHRB App on smart phones is necessary, via the App Store/Google Play Store.

The IHRB press release reads:

'With effect from Thursday 19th August Health Screening can be completed by all industry attendees on the day of the race meeting (and not the day before). Attendees can no longer apply the day before the race meeting — health screening will open on the day of the race meeting and remain open all day. Barcodes for the race meeting will be received within approx. 15 minutes of application. New attendees (first time registrations) can also apply on the day of the race meeting. Where attendees are currently using the IHRB App on their smart phones, they will need to update the App via the App Store/Google Play Store for the latest version. If an attendee has symptoms of Covid or are a close contact of a positive case they will not be permitted to attend that day and should contact the Senior Medical Officer to discuss before their next attendance. If an attendee has traveled outside of Ireland in the previous 14 days, other than on the EU Digital Covid Cert, and has not yet discussed this with the Senior Medical Officer, they will not be permitted to attend that day and should contact the Senior Medical Officer to discuss before their next attendance.'
