The Jessica Harrington-trained Edison Kent (7/1) made all in the Follow Ross Golf Club On Instagram Maiden Hurdle and avoided plenty of incident back in the field to run out a clearcut winner.
Three horse came down at the first, and a couple departed three out as well including the 7/4 favourite Part Time Farmer (sustained a serious injury), and it was Lucky Tenner who had tracked the leader throughout, who challenged racing to the last.
The latter wasn’t fluent at that final flight, however, and the Slaneyville Syndicate-owned winner galloped away from him to win by four and three quarter lengths.
Placed on his previous two starts at Leopardstown and Fairyhouse, the Leading Light 5-year-old was getting off the mark on his fifth start over hurdles.
Winning rider Robbie Power said: “He has been a big baby all along and it has taken him time to grow up.
“I didn't want to make the running and he was having a good look the whole way but was always saving plenty for himself so I knew in the straight he'd pick up.
"It was a good performance and he has improved with every run and really appreciates that drying ground."
