EDDERY FREE FOR LODGE

Pat Eddery has today won his appeal against the decision of the Redcar stewards to suspend him and will be free to ride Indian Lodge in Saturday`s Breeders` Cup Mile.

Eddery had been banned for four days for irresponsible riding aboard Lucky Gitano last Tuesday.

However, the disciplinary committee of the Jockey Club overturned that decision at an inquiry at Portman Square this morning.

Michael Kinane had been in line to deputise for Eddery at Churchill Downs if his appeal had been turned down.

Speaking after the appeal Eddery`s solicitor Andrew Chalk said: ``Pat is obviously delighted with the outcome.

'The incident at Redcar does not look good when first seen at full speed but when analysed carefully it becomes quite clear that the interference was caused when his mount Lucky Gitano unexpectedly jinked left.

'The interference was therefore due to circumstances beyond Pat`s control and he did all he could to correct his mount.

'It was therefore quite properly categorised as accidental.'
