EASY FOR ROSS MOFF

Ross Moff confirmed his position as one of the leading novice hurdlers in Ireland with a smooth success at Fairyhouse today.

Tony Martin's seven-year-old was dropped back to two miles for the Powers Gold Label Novice Hurdle after scoring impressively over an extended three miles at Aintree earlier this moth.

Sent straight into the lead by Paul Carberry, Ross Moff was never headed in a race which developed into a tactical battle.

After setting a slow pace Carberry quickened the tempo on the turn into the straight and the 6-4 favourite was never in any danger as he cruised home by two and a half lengths from Minella Hotel.

'This horse has plenty of speed,' said Martin. 'I left the tactics up to Paul - he rode him at Liverpool.

'He's entered at Punchestown next week but, although the horse takes his races well, I won't make any decisions until Sunday or Monday.'

British-based jockey Norman Williamson took the opening Blanchardstown Renault Hurdle on Wild Arms in a driving finish from Young American and Eternal Night.
