Dundalk all-weather the highlight of 2007 Fixture List

The 2007 Fixture List released today by Horse Racing Ireland heralds a new era in Irish racing with twelve all-weather meetings at the new Dundalk facility.

There are 328 meetings in total next year, up 14 on the 2006 figure, with the increase consisting of Dundalk plus an extra fixture at both Ballinrobe and Sligo. Dundalk Stadium hosts its first meeting on Sunday August 26, followed by September 27 (Thursday) and then a series of ten Friday evening meetings.

Another significant change to the Fixture List in 2007 is the Hennessy Gold Cup day at Leopardstown moving back 24 hours to Saturday February 10, avoiding a clash with the Ireland vs France Rugby International at Croke Park the following day.

The number of Saturday evening meetings remains the same as 2006 at ten, although fixtures at Punchestown and Leopardstown have been replaced by Kilbeggan and Bellewstown. The three-day July Festival at the latter venue will now run from Thursday 5th to Saturday 7th.

The Curragh St Leger meeting has been developed into a three-day Festival from Friday September 14 to Sunday 16th.
