Dundalk’s most valuable event goes to impressive Messidor On a day when he also has runners over at Kempton Joseph O’Brien ran three in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Race at Dundalk. Stable select Messidor got it done in style under Declan McDonogh. The Vadamos filly supplemented gains secured over the same course and distance a fortnight ago, nicely accounting for favourite Hale Bopp by two and three parts of a length. Messidor’s fellow 11/4 joint second market choice, Let Me Pass, was three parts of a length back in third. Owned by Blue Devil Racing Stable LLC the successful juvenile, now two from two at Dundalk, chased the leader in second. She improved to dispute the lead travelling well two furlongs out, before leading a furlong and a half out Ridden and staying on well in the final furlong, Messidor comfortably achieved success. “I was delighted with her today,” said McDonogh. “Joseph was happy for me to sit upsides or three-parts down. We didn't go much of a pace but I'd say she's going to get a mile easy. “She's improving mentally all the time and taking everything in her stride. She hit the line well today under a hand ride. She could be going the right way. “She has early pace to get a position and is then sensible throughout the race. Even though I had no cover she wasn't overdoing it. There is a lot to like about her.” (GC & EM)
