Micky Butler recorded his first ever double when landing the Noel Cummins Bookmakers Chase aboard the Eoin Doyle trained The Fonze making it a double on the day for the trainer also.
Winning trainer Doyle said afterwards: “He was very sick earlier in the year. He did really well as I thought he might be a bit short of fitness for today. I’d say it was pure ability that got him through as he’s a class horse.”
“We may go back hurdling over a trip he is also very well handicapped on the flat. Mickey did really well and he is one of the best seven pound claimers in the country.”
