‘Shark’ Hanlon’s highly consistent mare Dime A Dozen (1/2 fav) readily landed the odds in the Connolly’s RED MILLS Irish EBF Mares’ Auction Maiden Hurdle under Rachael Blackmore.
She disputed the lead early on before taking up the running before the first flight of hurdles, and wasn’t unduly troubled in the home straight to repel the challenges of Molly Wedger (20/1) and Wild Rumour (8/1) as she won by four lengths and four and a half lengths.
The winner, by Jeremy, hasn’t been out of the first three in twelve starts so far encompassing point-to-points, bumpers and hurdles.
"I thought I'd never have a winner again, said winning trainer 'Shark' Hanlon.
"I'm after having so many seconds and thirds in the last couple of months and she is a right little mare.
"She is very consistent and will get a break now and come back for the final at the Punchestown festival. She deserves a break as she has had a long season and was a very good point to point mare and won the Gain Final.
"She is a great jumper and deserved to win today and also picked up her E5,000 mares' bonus having also picked up a E5,000 bonus for her bumper win.
"I'm so glad to get a winner because I've all my summer horses gone out now and all I have is seven horses to run for the winter. I have point to point horses but I'd say I won't have seven horses for the next six months for the track."
