Derridae was another shock winner to end the card at Thurles today as the Moses McCabe-trained mare struck at 50/1 in the concluding 80-95 handicap hurdle.
The daughter of Milan had won at Limerick back in February but had followed that up with two below par efforts and was making her seasonal debut this afternoon having been off since March.
She tracked the leaders in today's race, run over just shy of two miles, before hitting the front turning for home.
Jordan Gainford sent his mount clear before the final flight and she stayed on well in the closing stages to post a five-length win over Hunters Song
"Jordan won in Limerick on her and gets on well with her. It was her first run for 263 days but she loves that ground and was working well so I was surprised with the price she was,” said McCabe.
"We'll go again for a similar race next, then go chasing and the softer the ground the better for her.
"It is a pity (owner) Michael Hanrahan isn't here as he wasn't feeling well so this will be a tonic. His horses are running well."
