Bumper winner Magical Zoe made a successful start to her jumps' career today, effortlessly landing Wexford's opening Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle for new connections.
The daughter of Shantou won a Cork bumper in March for trainer Barry Fitzgerald and having been bought for £140,000 the following month, today reappeared for trainer Henry De Bromhead, owner Patrick Bryceland and jockey Conor Brassil.
Held up in mid-division, Brassil produced the four year old to challenge early in the home straight and eventually defeated Lenabane hard-held by a length and a half.
De Bromhead reported “Alex Elliott sourced her at the Aintree Sale for new clients, the Brycelands from Scotland and Robert Power (retired jockey) suggested this race to get her started. Robert has started helping us recently and credit must go to him, so I've had nothing to do with it.
“The more I think about it the less I had to do with it!”
He added "Aidan and Barry Fitzgerald were strongly recommending her and fair play to them, they were spot on. She looks lovely and we are delighted. Conor was brilliant on her, she was very babyish over her hurdles and he really nursed her around and gave her a lovely ride.
"I've no real plan, we were just getting her started today and seeing how it went. She is a nice mare to look forward to."
