The Fermoy Maiden Hurdle at Cork produced a terrific finish with Seven Days edging out Acapulco after a prolonged duel.
The pair had fought it out from before the last and it was Davy Russell's charge who had his head in front where it mattered to score by the narrowest of margins.
Andrew McNamara, rider of Acapulco was being denied a hat-trick.
"I didn't think he would be good enough but he's improved since the last day," said winning trainer Liam Burke.
"He's a nice horse but I didn't think he'd beat the five-year-olds, I thought he wouldn't be quick enough.
"He wants a distance anyway and will be a three-mile chaser in time. If he won another hurdle I'd be happy."
