Trainer John Dunlop today won an appeal against the decision of the Chepstow stewards not to promote Sabreon to first place in a race at the Welsh course earlier in the month.
The disciplinary committee of the Jockey Club awarded the Monmouth Maiden Fillies' Stakes to Dunlop's charge, demoting original winner Land Ahead to second.
The Chepstow stewards originally found Land Ahead's rider Richard Quinn guilty of careless riding in the July 6 contest but found that he had not improved his placing as a result and allowed the placings to stand.
The committee heard evidence from Dunlop, Quinn and Sabreon's rider Gary Carter, and also viewed video recordings of the race.
They found that Land Ahead had interfered with Sabreon and that the interference was caused by Quinn's careless riding in allowing his filly to drift into Sabreon, taking her into the centre of the course.
The committee was satisfied that Land Ahead had improved her placing in relation to Sabreon and reversed the placings.
Quinn was also cautioned as to his future conduct in races.
