DUNLOP SETS STALL OUT FOR NEWBURY RETURN

Orchestra Stall is set to make his return to racecourse action in the Watership Down Stud John Porter Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

The eight-year-old was a pattern-race performer for trainer John Dunlop but has been sidelined with injury since winning the Prix Gladiateur at Longchamp in September 1997.

Marcus Hosgood, racing secretary to the Arundel trainer, said today: "He's an intended runner at the moment.

"He's had a tendon problem but it has been so far so good with him this year.

"With anything like that one is always holding one's breath but he's been training well.

"He will like the ground, he's always wanted soft ground and he's a pretty smart stayer at his best - he won the race at Longchamp pretty easily."

Connections will see how the gelding comes out of the Group Three contest before mapping out a campaign for him.

"You have to take it one step at a time when they have that sort of injury," Hosgood added.
