DUBAI EARNS HIGH RATING

Dubai Millennium, rated 136 on dirt, proved he is as good on grass with an astonishing display in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday, according to British Horseracing Board handicapper Nigel Gray.

Godolphin's Dubai World Cup winner routed his five rivals in Wednesday's 10-furlong Group One contest, coming home eight lengths clear of Sumitas with top miler Sendawar a further three lengths back in fourth.

'It was a performance very suitable for the occasion,' remarked Gray, who is responsible for assessing middle-distance horses.

'Sendawar and Dubai Millennium were both rated 127 in the International Classifications. After the Dubai World Cup Dubai Millennium was put up to a dirt rating of 136 - he'd had his prep-race on dirt when he beat Lear Spear.

'The question was whether or not he could produce his dirt form on turf and after yesterday's race he answered it with an emphatic yes.

'A literal interpretation of yesterday's race puts him in the 130s but the way he won by eight lengths and the way he burned off Sendawar he proved that he is just as effective on turf as he is on dirt.

'I was lucky enough to be in Dubai and it was great to be there to see him yesterday - it's great to have a horse like that around.'
