English jockey Martin Brennan is leaving for Dubai at the weekend having signed off after 19 years in the saddle.
The 37-year-old was presented with a picture of his victory on Strath Royal in Wetherby`s Charlie Hall Chase at Leicester this afternoon by another retired jump jockey Graham Bradley.
'This is another sad day as we are losing one of the legends of the weighing room, Martin was certainly that,' said Bradley, who was taking time off from signing copies of autobiography `The Wayward Lad`.
Brennan, who is to be a work-rider with leading trainer Kieran McLaughlin, said: 'I was offered the job at the end of May and I had to give it serious consideration. I am 37, have enjoyed riding and am still in one piece _ that`s the main thing.
'I shall be back home at the end of the Dubai season next spring and will ride out for my father Owen.'
Brennan, who rode more than 350 winners, began his career with Jimmy Fitzgerald before mhaving spells with John Blundell and Walter Wharton and then Brennan snr at Worksop.
His first winner was Arctic Menelek at Kelso on March 3 1981 and biggest successes came in 1998 on Strath Royal in the Charlie Hall and Speaker Weatherill in the Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster.
Brennan`s last winner came on Common Man for his father at Cheltenham three weeks ago on October 25th.
