DREAM SET TO RETURN HOME

Micko's Dream has left Leahurst Veterinary College and reported to be none the worse for his fall in the Martell Grand National at Aintree on Saturday.

The Willie Mullins-trained gelding was taken to the equine hospital after falling at the first of the 30 fences.

"He's fine and he'll be back home in two days," said Jim Balfry, secretary of the 24-strong Syndicate of Prison Officers Racing Team (S.P.O.R.T), who own the eight-year-old.

Despite his early exit, Micko's Dream went on to complete the course on his own, but he was taken away for treatment to a stomach injury.

"He was a bit tender underneath which is why he went to the equine hospital but there's nothing broken and nothing damaged," added Balfry, a prison officer at Portlaoise prison in County Kildare.

"We still have a horse and we live to fight another day."

Micko's Dream is expected to be back in his box at Mullins' stable in County Carlow on Wednesday.
