DOUBLEPRINT TO BACK TINGLE CREEK

Saturday`s #55,000 Tingle Creek Trophy will be sponsored by Doubleprint, it was announced today.

The Grade One chase has been rescheduled for Cheltenham after last Saturday`s card at Sandown was abandoned due to waterlogging.

Also featured on the seven-race programme are the #80,000 Tripleprint Gold Cup and the Bonusprint Bula Hurdle, which carries a total prize fund of #40,000.

Relkeel, the winner of the last three Bula Hurdles, is honoured in the first race the Concord Brights Filing Products Relkeel Hurdle, now due off at 12.15pm, 35 minutes earlier than originally scheduled to accommodate the extra race.

Nigel Payne, spokesman for George Ward who is responsible for Tripleprint, Bonusprint and Doubleprint, said: 'We are delighted to accommodate the Tingle Creek Trophy Chase within the Tripleprint meeting and even more pleased to have been given the opportunity by Cheltenham to sponsor the race this year.'

Peter McNeile, Cheltenham`s commercial manager, added: 'We are delighted to be able to stage the Doubleprint Tingle Creek Trophy Chase at Cheltenham and it is a result of a partnership between the main sponsor, Cheltenham and the Levy Board.

'It is going to be a fabulous day`s racing on Saturday - the most valuable card staged at Cheltenham outside the National Hunt Festival.'

The Tingle Creek, over an extended two miles, has been re-opened to the 11 horses originally entered at the early-closing stage on November 15th.

Go Roger Go, trained by Edward O`Grady, will run in the Tripleprint Gold Cup if there are no major problems with his travel arrangements.

The eight-year-old Phardante gelding has finished second on both of his starts this season, most recently in the Poplar Square Chase at Naas last month when beaten four lengths by To Your Honour.

O`Grady said on Monday: 'At the moment Go Roger Go, subject to travel being all right, is a runner. The gales aren`t very good which might affect the shipping, but I`m hopeful to get him there.'

Lambourn-based trainer Mark Pitman revealed that Connor Macleod is likely to take his chance in the Tripleprint.

On his last start Connor Macleod finished fifth in the John Smith`s Hurdle at Wetherby in October, having previously ran a fine third in the Mumm Mildmay Novices` Chase at Aintree in April.

On hearing that Connor Macleod is set to carry 10st 1lb in Saturday`s race, Pitman said: 'He`ll take his chance as 10st 1lb is the perfect racing weight and we`ll hope for the best.

'The problem is that we have been looking for some decent ground - all of his best form is on good to firm. Genuine good ground is fine, but he doesn`t run up to his best on soft ground.

'However, Cheltenham is one of the best tracks for draining quickly and 10st 1lb over two miles and five furlongs is ideal.

'It was unfortunate that it threw down with rain all day when we took him to Wetherby last time and, as we were so far from home, we thought we`d let him run. He`s schooled well at home.'

The going at Cheltenham is currently described as good to soft, soft in places after just one millimetre of rain overnight.
