DOBBIN INJURY BLOW

Grand National-winning jockey Tony Dobbin has suffered arm and shoulder injuries in a heavy fall at Doncaster.

Dobbin's mount Breath Of Scandal fell six out when holding every chance in the Tote Exacta Coming Soon Chase this afternoon.

The rider, who was thrown on to the turf, was attended by paramedics, who put a neck brace on him. He was then taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Dobbin's agent Richard Hale said tonight: 'Tony has dislocated his left shoulder and has a fracture high up on his left arm, but I understand they are letting him out tonight once they get the shoulder back in.

'Brian Harding, who is bringing him home, said Tony was in agony.'

A hospital spokeswoman confirmed that Dobbin would be discharged later tonight after being treated for his injuries.

Dobbin had been in the wars only 11 days ago when he suffered mild concussion following a crashing fall from Noshinannkin in a novice chase at Catterick. He was stood down for three days.

The 27-year-old, the leading northern-based jockey this season with 48 winners, lifted the world's greatest steeplechase at Aintree in 1997 on Lord Gyllene.-PA
