Tony Dobbin is hoping to be reunited with Go Ballistic in the Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup a fortnight on Thursday.
He could get the ride back on the gelding who he partnered to finish a length second to See More Business in the race last year, if trainer Alan King decides to run Spendid in the race as well.
The Ulsterman recalled: "Go Ballistic was only just beaten last year and at one stage late in the race I thought I had it won but it was not to be."
Explaining current riding plans, King said: "Tony Dobbin is certainly being considered for the ride but he has not been booked.
"He will probably ride if Spendid runs as Richard Johnson will switch to Spendid. But it's early days yet and no decision has been taken."
Go Ballistic is quoted at 20-1 for the Gold Cup by William Hill, after a distant second to Looks Like Trouble at Cheltenham last time out.
Last week's Jim Ford Chase winner Spendid is offered at 40-1.
