DETTORI ON THE DOUBLE

Having gained four of his previous six victories on undulating, turning tracks such as Epsom and Lingfield, Silca Blanka looked well-suited by the twists and turns of Brighton as the eightyear-old accounted for 13 rivals in the Tote Credit Club Brighton Mile Challenge Trophy at the Sussex course yesterday.

Jockey Frankie Dettori was content to sit in behind on board the Tony Newcombe-trained 7 to 1 chance as Hugwity led them round the final bend. But as the runners straightened up for home the former champion jockey pounced before coming home two lengths ahead of Resist The Force. Dettori completed a 55 to 1 double when guiding Miss Hit to a neck success over Forgotten Times in the closing Back Group Handicap.

Blue Style, at 25 to 1, turned the claiming stakes into a procession with an 11-length success.
