Frankie Dettori will ride Crimplene in the Breeders` Cup Distaff at Churchill Downs on Saturday week, it was announced today.
The Clive Brittain-trained filly, owned by Sheikh Marwan Al Maktoum, has been ridden in her last seven races, which include three Group One victories in the Irish 1000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes and Nassau Stakes, by Philip Robinson.
However, Brittain explained: 'She runs under the Darley banner and Frankie is the Darley jockey.
'She runs in the Distaff and they haven`t got another runner so Frankie will take the ride.'
Crimplene has arrived in the United States and the Newmarket trainer said: 'She has travelled very well. She had a long journey but she had a full feed on the flight and drank her water which was good.
'They took her temperature when she arrived and it was spot on. Sometimes they get a temperature because they are stressed but she was OK. I was very pleased with that.'
Brittain is happy with the way the filly`s preparation has gone.
He said: 'Philip rode her in her final work and she went well. He was very pleased with her.
'She`s been round some Churchill Downs-style bends here and she seemed to enjoy the change.
'She`ll be racing on dirt which shouldn`t be a problem and she`ll be schooled in the stalls over there.
'She`s a good filly and I hope she does well.'
Dettori, who last rode Crimplene when she finished fourth behind Iftiraas at Newbury in April, already has two Breeders` Cup winners to his credit having won the Mile on Barathea in 1994 and the Turf on Daylami last year.
Crimplene is a 7-1 chance with Coral for the Distaff.
