DERBY FAILURE COURT TO HAVE A BREAK

Holding Court is set for a break following his below-par effort in the Budweiser Irish Derby on Sunday.

The runaway Prix du Jockey-Club winner will be brought back for an autumn campaign after finishing only sixth behind Sinndar at the Curragh.

The colt is due to arrive back at trainer Michael Jarvis' Newmarket base later today and no reason has come to light yet for his disappointing performance.

Jarvis said today: "He hasn't arrived home yet, he's not due in until this afternoon.

"Immediately after the race he didn't seem distressed - he just seemed to run a bit flat. These things happen with horses.

"We'll give the horse a rest and bring him back for an autumn campaign, though which races he'll run in I don't know."

Jarvis did gain some compensation when Alrassaam landed the Group Two Budweiser International Stakes by eight lengths.

Plans are fluid for the four-year-old and Jarvis added: "We'll look at the programme book and discuss it with the owner."
