Kevin Darley further extended his lead at the head of the jockeys` table as Style Dancer secured the Monks Cross Shopping Park Quintin Gilbey Silver Trophy.
Style Dancer forced his way to the front with a furlong to travel and hung on by half a length from Cusin.
The victory was a boost for trainer Richard Whitaker whose string has dwindled to around the 10-mark.
'Style Dancer has been a bit of a frustrating horse really as he has plenty of ability,' said the trainer.
'He really needs a fast pace - if he gets it he starts passing horse and just keeps going.
'Kevin said things worked out well today, although he did hit the front a bit too soon.'
Style Dancer will now tackle a seven-furlong handicap at the Ayr Gold Cup meeting before going south at the end of the month for the Mail On Sunday Mile Final at Ascot.
