DANOLI TO RUN AT NAAS

Danoli is set to go on trial for Cheltenham when he runs in the Newlands Chase at Naas next Saturday.

The injury-plagued gelding's participation in the Gold Cup remains in the balance after he finished third at Gowran Park last weekend.

And trainer Tom Foley said today: "I'm not over-enthusiastic about running him at Cheltenham just for the sake of being there.

"If he runs well on Saturday there's a possibility he'll go for the Gold Cup. If not he'll stay at home. We're reaching the time where we have to make a major move.

"He doesn't like heavy ground and that's what acted against him last Saturday when he was third at Gowran Park.

"He's needs the ground wet and loose, and if that's the case he will run on Saturday. Whatever happens it's make or break time."

Saturday's race is over two miles which is on the short side for Danoli but Foley said: "I can't get another suitable race before Cheltenham."
