July Cup runner-up Lincoln Dancer and third Pipalong head the 27 acceptors revealed today for the Stanley Leisure Sprint Cup at Haydock Park on September 2nd.
The Group One event, which carries a total prize fund of #150,000, has also attracted a quintet of possible runners from Godolphin, including last year`s runner-up Bertolini and fifth-placed Sampower Star.
Lincoln Dancer`s trainer Michael Jarvis may also be represented in the race by Tomba, third in the race in 1998 and 1999, and sixth last year.
'The five furlongs of the Nunthorpe might be a bit sharp for Lincoln Dancer and Haydock is his next target,' said Jarvis. 'He`s in good form.
'Tomba`s next run will be in the Hungerford Stakes on Friday providing that the forecast rain arrives.
'Six furlongs might be on the sharp side for him as he`s getting on nowadays and seven furlongs should be more suitable. He could run at Haydock if it was soft but we`ll get Friday out of the way first.'
Other possible contenders are Wokingham Stakes winner Harmonic Way - forced to miss the Stewards` Cup at Goodwood earlier this month after taking a slight knock at home - and Jim Goldie`s progressive sprinter Indian Spark.
