The ground at the Curragh for today's Irish Oaks meeting is soft, heavy in places.

The update this morning is a slight improvement on yesterday's going of heavy, soft in places.

Fresh ground will be in use on the round track, the course for the feature event.

The first on an eight-race card gets underway at 1.40pm with the Oaks due off at 3.20pm.

Ballinrobe race on Monday and Tuesday and the western track report their ground to be good.

This is a significant improvement from the previous description of yielding to soft.

The forecast is for a dry day today with rain overnight, clearing later tomorrow.
