The attendance of 10,042 at Leopardstown this afternoon was up over 31% on the corresponding attendance of 7,650 on the Hennessy Gold Cup meeting last year.

Betting with the bookmakers also showed a welcome increase.

The turnover in the ring was almost 10% up on 12 months ago at €1,170,578 compared with last year's figure of €1,064,758.

However the Tote aggregate of €614,266 was down dramatically on last year, over 30% lower compared to €883,663.

This was attributed to a much lower contribution from the French PMU.
