Charlie Swan 's charge was out the back throughout and wasn't fluent under Davy Russell.
He still had plenty of ground to make up in sixth at the last but flew home on the run-in to pip Presenting Thyne in the shadow of the post.
"I thought he had no chance at halfway - he didn't act on the track," said Swan.
"Davy gave him a great ride. He just didn't jump great and maybe is a big horse for around here.
"We'll have to see now where to go with him. He likes good ground."
