The opening race at Killarney this afternoon, The Killarney Towers Hotel Maiden Hurdle was won by the Jimmy Coogan trained Der Spieler ridden by Garrett Cotter and owned by Beverley Westermann.
Winning trainer Coogan said afterwards, "That was nice, we'll play it by year as to where to go next. We'll give him a little break now and as long as there's a dig in the ground we'll keep going with him. I have 15 riding out at the moment and they are a mixture of flat and national hunt."
