Chris Hayes completed a treble at Dundalk today, landing the concluding DundalkStadium.com Handicap (div II) on Bradesco which provided owner/trainer/breeder Luke Comer with a deserved winner on the day.
Comer had earlier narrowly failed with third-placed Eskimo Lil beaten two noses, and half-length runner-up Wee Jim but scored with last-gasp winner Bradesco, his eight runner at the fixture.
Runner-up No Trouble was matched in-running at 1.01 in the race but Bradesco finished well to lead near the line and score by a short-head.
Comer's assistant Jim Gorman later reported “he’ll come back here for a two-mile race (on November 26) and he’s improving all the time.
“I didn’t think he’d go on this surface as he’s a huge big horse but he does. The horses are running well and we could have had a treble this evening so hopefully it continues.”
Hayes, earlier successful on Star Girl Aalmal and Marsa steered Bradesco to win at the track last Wednesday and following today's treble, he is three winners clear (28-25) of Colin Keane at the head of the 2021 All-Weather Championship.
