Clonmel comeback for Bachasson as Irish racing goes on hiatus A spectacular rise from the ashes on Irish racing’s last race day for the foreseeable future as Bachasson strides back into the form of his life, winning the feature event at Clonmel on Tuesday. Thanks to the recent events in the world, earlier this week all British racing was stopped until the end of April and while racing was going on behind closed doors in Ireland, the Irish government has now cancelled all sporting events with or without spectators meaning Clonmel was the last race meeting to take place before a total shutdown on these islands. With this break from sports many have been looking at which casino sites they can sign up to until the racing starts again - which looks to be the end of April at the time of writing. Bachasson - a grey gelding under the care of trainer Willie Mullins - last raced over fences in the 2018 Cheltenham Gold cup, where he unfortunately took a tumble early on. But in the Clonmel feature race, The Download The BoyleSports App Chase, he was sent off the favourite at 4-6, coming off of a 6th place finish in the Coral Cup at the previous week’s Cheltenham Festival. The Voix Du Nord gelding dominated the race, jumping boldly under Paul Townend and the pair beat their nearest rival Death Duty by 12 lengths. Willie Mullins has now won this Clonmel feature race for the third year in a row following on from Koshari and Acapella Bourgeois in the previous two renewals. Winning rider Paul Townend commented on Bachasson: “he had the rating to do that and Death Duty didn’t seem to fire. His jumping was very good. He makes lengths everywhere and is a very quick jumper. The future looks bright for Bachasson and after this small hiatus for Irish racing, maybe we’ll see exactly how bright.
