Clifford's Winning Streak continues

Kilkenny trainer John Clifford’s lucky Christmas moved up another gear at Limerick today, when his Sumindasuprstar, under Ben Dalton, caused a 25/1 upset to win the Sliabh Luachra Handicap Chase.

Clifford’s number came up when his Winning Streak lottery ticket was drawn from the drum on RTE 1 on Christmas Eve ahead of next Saturday’s live drawn and to add icing to his cake, the Inistioge handler’s gelding himself managed his maiden win in the 2m3f handicap chase.

Afterwards Sumindasuprstar’s owner Larry O’Connor joked “when your luck is in, its really in!”

“Sumindasuprstar can be a funny type and didn’t want to leave the parade ring today. He dropped out of contention the last day before staying on late but we were only hopeful with him today.”
