The 7/4 favourite Chantilly made light of a mark of 85 in the three-year-old handicap over ten furlongs.
Placed in all three maiden outings last year, the Galileo colt sat second under Ryan Moore before being sent past Slaney Swagger two furlongs out and he stayed on strongly to beat that rival by four and a quarter lengths.
It was a third winner on the card for Moore and Aidan O'Brien after Wingspan and Battle Cry.
"We liked him last year but he never won," said O'Brien.
“Ryan thought he could be a horse for a handicap in Ascot and he should get into one of those three-year-old races now.
“I’d say he definitely wants better ground. He’s a good mover, a long striding horse.”
