Chablais set for chasing debut at Kempton today

Ex-point-to-pointer Chablais makes his debut over fences today at Kempton in the 1:00 for Nicky Henderson with Barry Geraghty aboard.

The French bred son of Saint Des Saints won on his only start between the flags for Andy Slattery at Horse & Jockey in March of 2010.

He was then bought for £260,000 at the Cheltenham Brightwell Sales in April of last year by his current connections.

He made a winning racecourse debut over the course in January in a Hurdle over 2m5f where he beat decent sorts Sybarite and The Reformer.

Paddy Powers have him installed the 8/13 favourite for today's 2m contest but he is likely to face stiff opposition in the shape of Escortmen, trained by Paul Nicholls and ridden by Ruby Walsh.

This fellow was beaten on his chasing debut last time out at Fontwell over 2m 4f but the step back to 2m today will suit him and he is sure to test Chablais.
